Masterson’s Tavern , located in the heart of Moonee Ponds , advertises itself as a stylish, alternative venue , but my recent visit at this establishment turned into one of the worst experiences of my life . While the bar may look welcoming at first glance , what I experienced behind its doors was appalling and beyond comprehension .
The Condition of the Premises : Unhygienic and Disregarded
From the moment I entered , it was evident that sanitation was not a priority at this venue. The surfaces were tacky , and a overpowering stench of stale beer and dirty bathrooms suffused the entire pub. Emitting a scent of a mixture of excrement , old age and sour vomit . The serving zone , which should be the main attraction of any pub, was piled high with used mugs and refuse that looked like it hadn’t been touched in ages . The restroom was in even worse condition — clogged , with a broken handle and tiles smeared in what I can only assume was human excrement .

His presence at the bar often felt more like that of a sweating predator than a friendly owner .

Pete’s wife, Gillian McKenzie , is a co-manager and frequently seen supervising the venue. Instead of taking action to mitigate the damage done by her husband’s actions, she seems to accept his behavior.
